I am passionate about giving ‘agile’ a new and transformational meaning. So that it benefits teams and organizations in these unpredictable times. I founded Scrum Company in 2014, which has become a European market leader in Agile and Scrum consultancy and training services. It is great to learn and share insights on agile: I enjoy authoring books and blogs and speaking about my experiences publicly and online.
As a Coach, Facilitator and consultant, I work with Corporate Product Innovation Teams and Startups to identify what product, service, or feature should be build next – looking at desirability, feasibility and viability. My main focus is coaching and facilitating teams so they become autonomous and high-performing in applying Lean Innovation methodologies. Next to that, I work with the whole organization to transform into a company where innovation and people can thrive, by changing the company culture, structure, and training the workforce.
In my work as a consultant for large international organizations, I saw how multiyear planning and never-ending processes stifled innovation and employee engagement. In discovering Scrum, I felt the power and energy of multidisciplinary teams that use visual tools and work in short cycles. I am passionate about sharing the ways that the Agile mindset can transform companies and employees alike. I provide training and coaching in Scrum, Agile HR and Design Thinking.
Having worked in multiple capacities in the corporate as well as in the cultural field in New York, I came to realize that mediocre results are easily explained by many but hard to alter without making space for experiments. Passionate about the Agile mindset to reach the highest top with great teamwork and energy, I look forward to helping you bring your organization exactly there. Let’s stop scheduling meetings, but let’s Go Get it!
Imagine, working days consisting of lingering meetings, policy-making and bureaucracy belong to the past. Imagine, there is space for innovation and experiments. Departing from this perspective I left in pursuit of finding a different way of working and I have found the answer: it is called Agile and Scrum is the best-known method. It is amazing to see how things can be accomplished differently. I’m fully dedicated to coaching and guiding organizations through transitions, training professionals and helping them implementing Scrum and other methods of working Agile.
Everyday again, I come across an increasing number of people focused on responding to change faster, working in short cycles to deliver more and viable products. Unfortunately, however, this is not the norm yet; still, projects linger around endless meetings, delays and disappointing results. On my way searching for more energy in the job I have discovered Scrum. Scrum is a way to steer projects around efficient teamwork. Using my expertise, humor and critical eye, I advise, train and support organizations and people to become agile, in order for them to methodically deliver the desired results with speed and joy.
I made it my mission to have people perform with more energy. Only then, I am convinced, organizations can grow. Hierarchy and little autonomy have a paralyzing effect. Coming from Lean, I have continued on learning Scrum as well as organizing agile, and every day again I am surprised by the positive impact it makes. Teams become autonomous, clients are serviced better and results are achieved in a more timely fashion. With great pleasure I coach teams and organizations in making more impact. On to more agile organizations and energetic professionals!
Working in the Internet sector made me see big differences in the effectiveness of organizations. Getting to know Scrum, I was surprised to see how working with integrated teams was so much more effective than I had ever experienced before! In my ideal world, organizations are open to change and employees are offered space for their own initiatives and responsibility. In my opinion, the best way to make the most of your colleagues is to offer them space for exploration and confidence.
It is my ambition to significantly contribute to more successful employees making real impact. I believe in better results achieved courageously and with joy! Working and organizing agile is a great way to accomplish exactly that. In my work as an entrepreneur and organization consultant I noticed how we sometimes overcomplicate things for one another. Employees do want to do what is right for the client/customer/patient but are held back by shortage of proper mandate, lavish processes or controlling supervisors. The answer is working agile including open communication and taking responsibility.
In my view, there’s no such thing as agility without trust and no trust without agility. Trust and agility are what lacks in bureaucratic environments. Bureaucracy undermines speed, effectiveness and true human interaction. Using my analytical power, love for people and determination to get things done, I advise, train and support organizations to become more agile and people to take a stand and be effective. Next to being an agile coach I love to make training materials for Scrum Company as a graphic designer. And recently, I published a graphic novel called ‘The Organization Man’, a visual research into bureaucracy.
Born in south Korea, but grew up in the Netherlands. After
high school in the Netherlands, I attended a high school in
Houston, Tx for a year. A fun and unforgettable year. After
several management positions, mostly at large finance
corporations, i started working for Organize Agile in June this year.
During my study Communications the combination of theory and practice-related
assignments with various clients, taught me a lot about how organizations work (or not work). In this rapidly changing world it is very important to be agile. I am glad to join the Organize Agile team to optimize the marketing and communications of the organization.
The last 12 years I have worked for a number of different
companies. All those companies have their own idea
when it comes to what a well-organized organization
looks like. However, there are major differences in performance. Organize Agile is a passionate and enthusiastic team that believes in the impact agility can have in organizations. As the office manager of this fantastic team I take great pride in supporting their drive to create a more agile world.
